Blue Rock IT, a leading IT provider for small businesses across East Lancashire, has underscored its commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating £500 to Positive Action in the Community (PAC). This significant contribution supported PAC’s inaugural ‘Light up the Hills’ charity walk, which successfully raised nearly £4,500 to aid the charity’s essential work with youth homelessness and domestic abuse survivors in the region.

The donation was part of Blue Rock IT’s pledge to match fund money raised, up to £500, for the walk which took place in Rossendale in September.

A Focus on Community, Not Just IT

Since its establishment in 2019, Blue Rock IT has built a strong reputation as a trusted IT partner for growing small businesses, typically those with five to 20 staff. Speaking from the company’s Blackburn base, Managing Director Pete Sims explained the company’s unique value proposition and the driving force behind its community focus.

“When a business is growing, they get to a point when the amount of IT issues they have to deal with starts to interfere with what they do as a company, and they can’t do it all themselves,” Mr Sims noted. “For many businesses, they reach this point when they hit around five to seven staff.”

Beyond their client work, Mr Sims and the Blue Rock IT team have been long-time supporters of PAC.

“I have believed in the work that PAC does, from their SafeSpace accommodation for youths who are homeless to their in the community work with women and children affected by domestic abuse through their Be Free project,” Mr Sims added. “Blue Rock IT is just proud if we can play a small part in helping these essential services benefit people in need.”

‘Light up the Hills’ Success

The ‘Light up the Hills’ walk was PAC’s first annual charity walk, held in Rossendale. Leroy Philbrook, the Partnership and Community Engagement Manager from PAC, praised the support from Blue Rock IT and the community.

“’Light up the Hills’ was a very successful event with 15 people taking part. It was an intimate and special walk aimed at raising the profile of Suicide Prevention,” Mr Philbrook said. “With the support from Blue Rock IT and the fundraising efforts of all the walkers, more than £4,500 was raised to help Positive Action in the Community.”

PAC is a registered charity dedicated to meeting the needs of the community, particularly in the areas of youth homelessness, domestic abuse, and mental wellbeing across East Lancashire.
