HAPI provides homelessness prevention services for young people aged 14-25yrs. HAPI aims to address the risk of homelessness at the earliest opportunity, by preventing homelessness or by offering support in a crisis to find safe accommodation. Services are available via face to face support as well as telephone support and can include; providing information and guidance, helping sort out things with parent’s/family members/carers (if it is safe and appropriate), family mediation, exploring housing options (short and longer-term), referring and speaking to other agencies that may be able to help, contacting and making referrals to accommodation projects, including support in attending assessments if required, support and assistance with moving into accommodation, including welfare benefits, support, building independent living skills and personal development opportunities


Answer questions relating to homelessness and housing issues.

Provide independent advice and guidance around housing and homelessness.

Advise on all the different options available to you.

Explain what you are entitled to and what your rights are.

Provide support with housing and referrals to projects both within and outside of Pendle.

Liaise with landlords to help you secure accommodation and/or help prevent your eviction.

Provide mediation and support you to contact family or friends and build positive relationships.

Refer you to other agencies such as counselling.

Support you with applying for benefits and with budgeting money.

Provide help if you have a concern about your own safety or the safety of others.

Provide you with in depth support either over the telephone or face to face.

Provide support for as long as you need it (continuing past your 18th birthday if needed).

Support you to attend appointments that will help prevent your homelessness.

You can arrange to be seen at a convenient location if you would prefer not to attend either of our offices which are in Nelson and Rawtenstall.

We can also arrange to come to your school/college or other.
