An intrepid team of 18 charity workers and supporters of local charity Pendle Action for the Community will take on the tough challenge of Total Warrior in Leeds this Saturday 27th June to raise money for Christmas for the young people at risk whom they support.
The Total Warrior challenge involves a distance of 12 kilometres that incorporates 30 obstacles of water, tunnels, fire, ice, electric shocks and mud with some of the obstacles being called The Plunge, Human BBQ, Shocker, Cement Mixer, Claustraphobe and Worm Muncher! But this is certainly no fun run and has been badged as the toughest event on Earth!
But it’s all in a good cause, as Claire Bennett, Charity Manager said ‘we know that so many worthwhile charities ask people to donate up to Christmas time, and we are usually one of them asking for donations to our raffle or present appeal to be able to give the young people in our supported accommodation for homeless young people, and the children and young people accessing our domestic abuse support service a happy Christmas to remember. So this year we thought we would do things a little differently and a bit earlier. This is where the idea to do the Total Warrior event came in as none of us have ever taken such a challenge ever before. Everyone who is taking part is incredibly excited but also incredibly nervous, it’s a real personal challenge for us all but as it’s for a cause that is close to our hearts, everyone agrees that this will give us the determination to complete the course. We have been actively seeking sponsors from our friends and families but we would really appreciate any more donations and sponsors that the public can offer us. Every penny and pound will go directly to benefit the children and young people we support, and will be hugely appreciated, and for those that do donate at Christmas it’s a good chance to tick it off the ‘Christmas to do list’!’.
